Oh baby!

Last Monday, Rachel and I got to work with and spend the day with the “babies” (age 0-2) instead of with our usual age group. We took the 8am-5pm shift for two of the nannies who were taking care of a baby that is currently in the hospital. The nursery was short-handed, so Rachel and I gladly stepped in. We had a great day, holding, cuddling, singing to, and playing with these sweet bundles of joy! I have worked with the babies before, but only for a short period of time and never for the whole day. It was really fun to experience a change of pace and be able to get to know the babies even better. They are the CUTEST things ever! They are so happy, content and just so much fun! They loved it when we made “fish faces” and by the end of the day, one of the baby girls could make a PREFECT fish face! (Picture below)

 The greatest part of the day was when Rachel and I got to take the sweet little ones on a walk. The 2 year olds were using the strollers, so we each got to hold a baby as we walked. They loved looking around at everything outside and it was so cute to see their little eyes open wide as they looked at the world around them. By the time we got back to Agape, both of our babies had fallen asleep.  I love it when kids fall asleep in my arms! :) When we got back to the baby room, Rachel and I got to just sit there, holding the babies, watching them sleep. It was so peaceful (since the 2 year olds were still on their walk) and the floor where we sat was nice and cool.

As I looked in the beautiful face of the precious baby girl I was holding, I was so overcome with love her, and I stood in awe of God’s handy work. He knit her together in her mother’s womb and she is so fearfully and wonderfully made! My heart then began to ache for her because I thought about how much I want for her to have a mommy and daddy. I want her to get better, be healed, and live a long and happy life with her forever family so badly! As I looked into her sweet, innocent face, I remembered Jeremiah 29:11 which says: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” and I was encouraged by the fact that although this baby does not have a mommy or daddy here on earth, she has a Father in Heaven who loves her more than anything and has great plans for her life. He has great plans for each and every one of the kids here at Agape, no matter what challenges they face. These kids have so much faith and I know that God is going to honor that in them.

I hope YOU know how much Jesus loves you! I don’t know what your family situation was or is like, but I hope and pray that you know that you have a Father in Heaven who loves you like crazy and has great plans for you… It doesn’t matter how old you are! If you place your trust in Him, He will never leave you or forsake you! (Joshua 1:9) You are fearfully and wonderfully made! If you don’t know Jesus like that, can I suggest that you get to know Him? He died for YOU…He loves YOU… and He is waiting you for YOU…are you in?

Psalm 139:13-20
13 For You created my inmost being;
    You knit me together in my mother’s womb.

14 I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;Your works are wonderful,
    I know that full well.

15 My frame was not hidden from You
    when I was made in the secret place,
    when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
16 Your eyes saw my unformed body;
    all the days ordained for me were written in your book
    before one of them came to be.
17 How precious to me are your thoughts, God!
    How vast is the sum of them!
18 Were I to count them,
    they would outnumber the grains of sand —
    when I awake, I am still with You.

I finally got a little smile!

The girls!
